Letter for the Press
Dear Media Friends:
One of the highlights of the GBWR event in MSU-IIT is the ceremonial foot washing (an Arab and Jewish tribal practice) and asking of forgiveness among the youth leaders of the tri-people of Mindanao. This has never happened before in our nation’s history. After 6 centuries (since March 16, 1521) this is the first time it will happen and be documented-in a world class manner.
Another highlight is the signing of a “Peace Covenant” among the youth leaders of the tri-people of MSU-IIT and the official launching of the LAOMI (the Lumad Association of MSU-IIT) the first Lumad association in MSU-IIT since its founding in 1968. This will be formally announced by Ms. Marlanie Piano and the KASAMA officers, together with the MYCOP, SALAM and MIMSA. This will be officially witness by the Rotary Clubs of Iligan, the tribal leaders of the city and the UNN13HBIC-the association of the 13 hinterland barangays of Iligan.
With the presence of LAOMI, MSU-IIT will now fully accomplished its Charter mandate of integrating the tri-people of Mindanao
Another major highlight is when the world class Octava Choir leads the entire MSU-IIT in the singing of the national anthem and as they give their rendition of nationalistic songs for our listening pleasure. Octava has just recenly won a gold medal in a world class choir competition at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Let’s make history together!! MSU-IIT-KAMI ANG SIMULA!!
See you all there and may the Forces of God be with us on that world class, historic day!!
President Arnold Garbanzos
